Founded by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati in 1922, it was the first Roman Catholic youth camp in the United States. It was named after Michael Scott, one of the first Catholics to reside in Cincinnati, who built the diocese's first cathedral. [1] The camp closed in 1988 amid environmental concerns. [2]
Damascus is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in southern Mahoning and northern Columbiana counties in the U.S. state of Ohio. [3] [2] As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 418. The community lies at the intersection of U.S. Route 62 and State Routes 173 and 534. [4]

In 1965 the Ohio Yearly Meeting (Damascus) joined the Evangelical Friends Alliance. In 1971 Ohio Yearly Meeting (Damascus) became Evangelical Friends Church – Eastern Region (EFCER).
