Wesker appears in several of the Resident Evil live-action film series. His character was adapted for the 2007 live-action film Resident Evil: Extinction. This version of Wesker is the head of the Umbrella Corporation, unlike Wesker's role in the games as a renegade high-ranking Umbrella researcher.
Borrowing elements from the video games Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2, the film follows amnesiac heroine Alice and a band of Umbrella Corporation commandos as they attempt to contain the outbreak of the T-virus at a secret underground facility. German studio Constantin Film bought the rights to adapt the series in live-action in January 1997.
Claire's memory begins to return and she remembers Umbrella workers attacking her group of survivors and moving them to the tanker. They learn that the ship is an Umbrella research facility, which is conducting experiments on the survivors. The three meet Albert Wesker, who has been granted super-human abilities from the T-virus.
The pair discovers the secret lab where Umbrella was experimenting on children. Wesker encounters Dr. Birkin and his family inside and has a shootout with them; he kills Birkin's wife in self-defense. Jill shoots Wesker. Before apparently dying, Wesker tells her to escape via the underground train before the Umbrella Corporation destroys the city.
