After winning the bid in no trump, the player has an option of playing the hand high or low. In high the play is normal. In low the strength of the cards are reversed while the five of hearts and the three of spades are neutral (for example in "low" play a seven would take a trick over an eight).

To play a card, the player states the card they are playing and puts it down in front of them. For example, if the lowest card in my hand is the 3 of hearts, I put the card down in front of me, say, "three of hearts." If I have the four of hearts, I would play that as well. If I have two 3s in my hand, I may choose either 3.
The heart suit may not be led until a heart (or, under some versions of the rules, the queen of spades) has been discarded previously, unless, of course, the player has only hearts left to lead.
