Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), also known as dimethylpolysiloxane or dimethicone, is a silicone polymer with a wide variety of uses, from cosmetics to industrial lubrication and passive daytime radiative cooling. [1] [2] [3] PDMS is particularly known for its unusual rheological (or flow) properties.
Hydrolysis of a silyldichloride can afford linear or cyclic products. Linear products are terminated with silanol groups: n R 2 Si(OH) 2 → H(R 2 SiO) n OH + (n − 1) H 2 O. Cyclic products have no silanol termini: n R 2 Si(OH) 2 → (R 2 SiO) n + n H 2 O. The linear products, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), are of great commercial value.
A second type of food testing strip is a gram-negative swab, which is usually administered directly to the food itself. Gram-negative swabs generally work faster than enzyme reactant strips, but they differ in that the gram-negative swabs are designed to detect a broad group of organisms, not just those that can cause foodborne illness in humans.
Polymethylhydrosiloxane (PMHS) is a polymer with the general structure [−CH 3 (H)Si−O−].It is used in organic chemistry as a mild and stable reducing agent easily transferring hydrides to metal centers and a number of other reducible functional groups.
This product consists of oligomeric units typically containing 40–50 butadiene molecules bonded together, with each end of the chain terminated with a hydroxyl [OH] group: R-45HTLO has a functionality of 2.4-2.6, which means that there is (approximately) one additional hydroxyl group located along the chain for every two oligomeric units ...
Silicone caulk can be used as a basic sealant against water and air penetration. In organosilicon and polymer chemistry, a silicone or polysiloxane is a polymer composed of repeating units of siloxane (−O−R 2 Si−O−SiR 2 −, where R = organic group).
A test strip is a band/piece/strip of paper or other material used for biological testing. Specifically, test strip may refer to: Food testing strips; Glucose meter test strip; Lipolysis test strip; Urine test strip; Universal indicator pH test strips; It may also refer to: Teststrip, an art gallery in Auckland, New Zealand
PDMS stamps are pieces of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), a silicone, that have been patterned usually against a master mold to form a relief pattern used in soft lithography. This PDMS stamp can be used in either its current form as a relief surface for techniques such as microcontact printing or can also be attached to an external source by ...
