Nirmala UI ("User Interface") is an Indic scripts typeface created by Tiro Typeworks and commissioned by Microsoft.It was first released with Windows 8 in 2012 as a UI font and currently supports languages using Bengali–Assamese, Devanagari, Kannada, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Malayalam, Meitei, Odia, Ol Chiki, Sinhala, Sora Sompeng, Tamil and Telugu.
For Windows, simply copy the font to your Windows\Fonts folder. Refer to system documentation for other operating systems. Restart your computer (not necessary on Windows XP). In Windows, right click on your Desktop, choose Properties, go to Advanced tab, click on Effects and choose Cleartype as the method to smooth edges of screen fonts.

Sinhala is a Unicode block containing characters for the Sinhala and Pali languages of Sri Lanka, and is also used for writing Sanskrit in Sri Lanka.
