Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW) (formerly Diesel Loco Modernization Works (DMW)) is a production unit of the Indian Railways located at Patiala in the Indian state of Punjab. It was set up in the year 1981 as "Diesel Component Works" (DCW) to meet the demand of maintaining the Railway's diesel locomotives . [ 3 ]
They entered service in 2000. A total of 1683 WAP-7 have been built, with more units being built at CLW, Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) and Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW). The WAP-7 is the most successful locomotives of Indian Railways [peacock prose] serving passenger trains since its introduction in 1999.
Patiala State Monorail Trainways (PSMT) was a unique rail-guided, partially road-borne railway system running in Patiala from 1907 to 1927.
