FITS - Federal Aviation Administration Industry Training Standards program is a partnership between FAA, Industry, and Academia designed to enhance general aviation safety. FITS is focused on the redesign of general aviation training. Instead of training pilots to pass practical test, FITS focuses on expertly manage real-world challenges.
The FAA was created in August 1958 () as the Federal Aviation Agency, replacing the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA). In 1967, the FAA became part of the newly formed U.S. Department of Transportation and was renamed the Federal Aviation Administration.
The original Wings program was updated in 2007. [7] It was replaced by a new program from the new FAA. [8] This new program attempts to provide better standards for pilots getting flight reviews and training, adding the most common causes of accidents into the curriculum and providing set standards for maneuvers, instead of giving a minimum flight time to complete.
It was created for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aircraft Certification Service (AIR). ASKME was established to provide a comprehensive automation environment for critical safety business processes for the Office of Aviation Safety. It consists of 18 separate projects that were installed between 2008 and 2017. [2]
The events prompted a review by the Federal Aviation Administration, [2] announced by acting administrator Billy Nolen on February 28, 2023. [3] The review started on March 15. [4] For the first time in 14 years, U.S. aviation industry leaders met the same day at a safety summit. [4]
