In Fallout New Vegas I have a "varmint rifle" and I purchased a "varmint rifle night scope" from Chet in Goodsprings. How can I put the scope on the rifle? My first thought was that I should simply go into the Pip Boy and equip the scope, but the option to do that is greyed out. I tried doing that with the rifle equipped and without.
Anti-materiel rifle (ideally with .50 MG Incendiary) fully repaired (+ Steady) + 12.7mm submachine gun for close combat + headshots. There is no better fun in New Vegas than to take down a Deathclaw from the distance with only one headshot. As a backup I'm using E-DE and Cass (Rose of Sharon Cassidy) because of close combat (especially in caves).

In both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, how can I repair my weapons and armor?
I have De-activated all mods and tried to draw my weapons/etc. multiple times with different load order combinations (each time hitting the "New Game" option from the main menu) but to no avail. I have deleted numerous mods that I didn't require anymore, still no change. I unchecked all ESP files, and still can't draw my weapon/etc.
Find "Fallout: New Vegas" and select it. Find the file labeled "Fallout New Vegas Title Update #5 (the number on yours could be higher if you are reading this after another update, or lower if you somehow have an old update) and DELETE it (do NOT move it, as the game will still detect it). Launch Fallout New Vegas as you normally would.
I found the disassembled weapons shipment near some Fiends and it's valued at almost 5000. The problem is I can't sell it anywhere (it just doesn't show up in the list of items).
Fallout New Vegas doesn't really have a whole lot of weapon crafting, unless you're into Explosives and want to make bombs. In fact, without DLC, there's exactly one craftable weapon that isn't a bomb or mine - the Dog Tag Fist, which you can make with a Repair skill of 30. The schematic can be had from Private Halford at Camp Guardian.
For Melee weapons, Str requirements that aren't met affect attack speed, while skill requirements affect damage output, and access to 'special attacks' in VATS that do additional damage, or have additional effects.
It was claimed in this comment that companions' weapons don't degrade in Fallout: New Vegas. Is that true? What about companions' armor? Does the difficulty of the game influence this? What about hardcore mode? This question is not about companions' default items that can't be taken away. It's about items that you add to your companions ...
