The East Cactus Plain Wilderness is a 14,630-acre (59.2 km 2) wilderness area on the Cactus Plain 10 miles (16 km) north of Bouse, Arizona. [2] It is one of twenty-five wilderness areas located in the Lower Colorado River Valley region, south of Lake Mead–Hoover Dam. It is administered by the Bureau of Land Management.
A large river in a dry, hot land attracts wildlife and people like a powerful magnet. Many thousands of visitors annually flock to the refuge to boat through the Topock Gorge, watch waterbirds in Topock Marsh, or hike to the Havasu Wilderness Area. A non-profit membership organization supports and advocates for the refuge.
The high point stands at 6322 feet (1926 m) on the western peninsula, rising from the Arizona-Utah border.
