Fort Lauderdale (/ ˈ l ɔː d ər d eɪ l / LAW-dər-dayl) is a coastal city located in the U.S. state of Florida, 30 miles (48 km) north of Miami along the Atlantic Ocean.It is the county seat of and most populous city in Broward County with a population of 182,760 at the 2020 census, [7] making it the tenth-most populous city in Florida.
As of the census [1] of 2000, there were 7,114 people, 1,975 households, and 1,617 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 3,051.9 people/km 2 (7,904 people/sq mi).

Marion is located in central Lauderdale County at (32.422182, -88.647323 It is bordered to the north, west, and south by the city of Meridian. Downtown Meridian is 5 miles (8 km) to the southwest via Dale Drive.

Frank and Ivy Stranahan, founding pioneers of Fort Lauderdale and the first residents of Las Olas Boulevard. Their trading post Stranahan House is located between the boulevard and New River. Ivy established the first public school in Ft. Lauderdale and later donated the land which would eventually become Stranahan High School. [7]
The Galleria was originally the Sunrise Center, an open-air shopping mall constructed in 1954, but was demolished except for the Jordan Marsh store (reopened as South Florida's first Dillard's in 1993; Dillard's stores later opened at Pembroke Lakes Mall in 1995 and The Mall at Wellington Green in 2001), and rebuilt as an enclosed mall.
