Depends. If you're looking for a world or region map, ^ what that person said. If you want something for building dungeon maps, local battle maps, etc, I recommend Dungeon Painter by Pyromancers. I use the paid version hosted on Steam, Dungeon Painter Studio ($14.99), but the free version is pretty good as is.

As the title states, I’m looking for recommendations for a decent map-making app for use on my iPad Pro. Right now I’m primarily looking for an app specifically for creating hex maps, but I’d be open to a dungeon map maker as well. I would (of course) prefer free, but I’m not opposed to paying for an app as long as it’s worth the price.

Battlemapp (Patreon version unlocks a much wider array of resources and functions, $6.50/month) Versatile 3D map maker with in-game dice-rolling and token options. AstralTabeltop (Free version with limited resources and space, $10/month for premium access) Very detailed full-game suite with many GM options, but also a decent map-building resource.
