The Lincoln–Sunset Historic District is a residential historic district located west of the downtown area of Amherst, Massachusetts.Colloquially known as Millionaire's Row, the district extends along Lincoln and Sunset Avenues between Northampton Street (Massachusetts Route 9) and the campus of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
The Mayflower Inn on Manomet Point, Plymouth Massachusetts was a large wooden structure set atop a hill off Point Road, with sweeping vistas of White Horse Beach to the north and the Cape Cod Bay and Scooks Pond to the south. Its exterior is similar in design to the Chatham Bars Inn, located in Chatham Massachusetts, which opened in 1914.
The Hotel Bancroft was built by Niagara Falls businessman Frank A. Dudley and operated by the United Hotels Company. [3] It was designed by Buffalo, New York architects Esenwein & Johnson in the Beaux Arts style and was constructed at a cost of over $1.2 million (equivalent to $37,887,000 in 2023).
The hotel, built in 1897, was designed for Arnold A. Rand by Boston architects Winslow & Wetherell, [1] architects of many large hotels and office buildings. At the time of its construction, the Hotel Buckminster was one of the first hotels in Boston and the largest building in Kenmore Square. [2]
