Punjab Kings (PBKS), formerly Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), is a professional franchise cricket team based in Mullanpur, Mohali, Punjab, that plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise is jointly owned by Mohit Burman , Ness Wadia , Preity Zinta and Karan Paul .
In 2008, along with actress Preity Zinta and businessman Mohit Burman, Wadia acquired ownership rights for the Mohali-based Twenty20 cricket team of the Indian Premier League (IPL). [7] The group paid $76 million to acquire the franchise, and named the team Kings XI (Eleven) Punjab, later on changed to Punjab Kings. [8]
The Punjab Kings' catchment areas are Kashmir, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, also evident from the letter sequence "K J H P H" in the banner of the team's logo.
