Sir David Rowat Barclay (27 October 1934 – 10 January 2021) and Sir Frederick Hugh Barclay (born 27 October 1934), [1] commonly referred to as the "Barclay Brothers" or "Barclay Twins", were British billionaire brothers, of whom Frederick Barclay is now the sole survivor.
Telegraph Media Group Limited (TMG; previously the Telegraph Group) owns The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph and is a subsidiary of Press Holdings. [1] David and Frederick Barclay acquired the group on 30 July 2004 from Hollinger Inc. of Toronto, Canada, the newspaper group controlled by Conrad Black, after months of bidding and lawsuits.
In 1957, Barclay Bros was founded in Brisbane by Don and Ian Barclay, growing to become one of the largest construction companies in Queensland. In 1958 it expanded into Papua New Guinea when it was awarded a contract to build a new hospital in Madang. In 1971 John Mowlem purchased a 40% shareholding, later taking 100% ownership.
