Cambria Cavern was a small limestone solutional cave which was discovered on 8 February 2018 when a portion of the cave's roof collapsed, causing sinkhole opened up in a residential area in Round Rock, Texas. [2] To stabilize the road and utility lines above the cave, the cave was partially filled with concrete and sealed. [3]
Inner Space Cavern (Also known as Laubach Cave) is a karst cave located in Georgetown, Texas. The cavern was formed by water passing through Edwards limestone . The cavern is estimated to be around 20–25 million years old but were only open to the surface since the late Pleistocene period 14,000–45,000 years ago.
During a 1975 expedition of the Cave Without a Name, cavers mapped out over 2.7 mi (4.3 km) of caverns, making it the seventh-longest cave in Texas. Due to the great natural acoustics created by three large solution domes on the ceiling of the Throne Room, the cave is host to 12 concerts yearly with a maximum attendance of 200 people.
The caverns feature several unique speleothems and other geological formations. The temperature inside the cave is 70 °F (21 °C) [2] year-round and the humidity rate is a constant 99 percent. The deepest part of the public tour is 180 feet (55 m) below the surface, although undeveloped areas of the cavern reach depths of 230 feet (70 m).
