The Delta Dental Plans Association, also known as simply Delta Dental, is an American network of dental insurance companies composed of 39 independent Delta Dental members operating in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. These member companies provide coverage to 85 million people, enrolled in over 157,000 groups.
The Society originated with the 1914 graduating class of the dental school at Northwestern University in Chicago. The idea for the fraternity came from the Dean of the Northwestern University Dental School, Dr. Green Vardiman Black who soon invited the deans of 51 other dental school extant at the time to organize chapters of their own, forming a network of locals.
Xi Psi Phi International Dental Fraternity (ΞΨΦ) is an international professional fraternity for dentistry.It was founded on February 8, 1889. [1] [2] Xi Psi Phi was the second professional dental fraternity to be formed, following Delta Sigma Delta (1882) and pre-dating Psi Omega (1892) and Alpha Omega (1907).
The SIU School of Dental Medicine was established in 1972 to provide a source of dentists in the southern half of Illinois. [5] Its campus was one of two residential centers of SIUE from 1957 until the opening of the Edwardsville campus in 1965 and saw only limited use from 1965 to 1972. [5]
The Delta Dental Educational Conference Center on the main level consists of a Multipurpose Room and three lecture halls with seating for 400 and audiovisual equipment. Members of student organizations hold meetings and events there, and the dental school host celebrations there, including the annual White Coat ceremony and Match Day reception.
With 13 million children and adults enrolled, Denti-Cal is the largest state-sponsored dental insurance program; Private contractor that administers Denti-Cal is Delta Dental. In 2016, the State of California awarded Delta Dental a new contract to provide administrative services for the Denti-Cal program, continuing the 42-year relationship [7]
