Columbiana Centre is an indoor super-regional shopping mall located off Interstate 26/U.S. Route 76 on Harbison Boulevard in Columbia, South Carolina that opened in 1990. It is the dominant shopping center in the Columbia Metropolitan Area.
Richland Mall opened in 1961 as the first mall in Columbia. It was an open-air mall, typical of first-generation malls from the mid-twentieth century, and anchored by J.B. White, a major department store based in Augusta, Georgia, that was prevalent in South Carolina.
Alamance Crossing opened its first phase on August 1, 2007. Its first two anchors were Belk and JCPenney, both of which relocated from existing stores at the smaller Burlington Square Mall, (now Holly Hill Mall) the town's existing shopping center. [2] [3] Hobby Lobby was added in 2008. [4]
In 1997, Columbia annexed the mall property, thus bringing the tax revenues into the city. [4] Shortly after this event, the facility underwent a redevelopment by the owner adding 18,000 sq ft (1,700 m 2). [5] In late 2014, Belk announced it would shutter the Dutch Square location to focus on a new flagship location in the Columbia area.
The land will be the future site of a development called Platt Springs Crossing. The site sits directly across Platt Springs Road from a shopping center that is anchored by a Publix grocery store.
Northwoods Mall is a 101-store super-regional 833,833-square-foot (77,465.6 m 2) indoor shopping mall located in North Charleston, South Carolina. It is the second largest indoor shopping mall in the Tri-County area next to Citadel Mall.
