The Kildare county football team represents Kildare in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Kildare GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association.The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Leinster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League.
Kildare first entered the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in 1888, and lost to Dublin by a score of 2–7 to 0–1. Kildare made a major contribution towards the evolution of rules and tactics in Gaelic football. The county was the first to abandon the tradition of playing 21 people on each team, using 16 on each team for a period.

Kildare Senior Football League Division 1 is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by the Kildare GAA clubs. As of 2017, 12 clubs play 11 games and are awarded 2 points per win and 1 point per draw. The top two teams qualify to play in the League Final, the winner is presented with the "Leinster Leader Cup".

The clubs Senior Mens Team competes in the Kildare Senior Football League Division 3 and Kildare Junior Football Championship. Grangenolvin are a former AIB club of the year winner in 1985. Mick Carolan was chosen on the Kildare football team of the millennium and was a Cuchulainn All Stars Award winner in 1966.
