Atascosa County (/ ˌ æ t ə s ˈ k oʊ s ə / AT-əs-KOH-sə) is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. It is in South Texas and its county seat is Jourdanton. [2] As of the 2020 United States Census, its population was 48,981. [3] [4] Atascosa County is part of the San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area.
It is part of the Poteet Independent School District located in central Atascosa County. During 2022–2023, Poteet High School had an enrollment of 508 students and a student to teacher ratio of 13.15. [1] The school received an overall rating of "C" from the Texas Education Agency for the 2021–2022 school year. [2]
