Web colors are colors used in displaying web pages on the World Wide Web; they can be described by way of three methods: a color may be specified as an RGB triplet, in hexadecimal format (a hex triplet) or according to its common English name in some cases. A color tool or other graphics software is often used to generate color values.
Eggplant. Eggplant is a dark purple [ 1] or brownish -purple [ 2] color that resembles the color of the outer skin of European eggplants. [ 3] Another name for the color eggplant is aubergine[ 2] (the French, German and British English word for eggplant). The first recorded use of eggplant as a color name in English was in 1915.
In computing, on the X Window System, X11 color names are represented in a simple text file, which maps certain strings to RGB color values.
