The Clare county hurling team represents Clare in hurling and is governed by Clare GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions - the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship , the Munster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League .

On 6 April, Clare defeated Kilkenny by 3–16 to 1–20 to win the final and a fifth league title.
1995 was a special year for 89-year-old Doyle and for Clare hurling. That year's Munster final saw Clare captain Anthony Daly bridge a sixty-three-year gap since Doyle captained Clare to the provincial crown. The team then went on to win the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, a victory that made Lohan and his teammates heroes in County Clare - it was the county team's first All-Ireland senior win since 1914.
