Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU Hyderabad) is a public university, located in Hyderabad, Telangana. Founded in 1965 as the Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering College , it was established as a university in 1972 by The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Act, 1972 .
Over time JNTU, Hyderabad has become a multi-campus university. Later in the year 2008, JNTU, Hyderabad was divided into four independent universities. The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA) was established on 18 August 2008 by an Act of the Legislature of the State of Andhra Pradesh.
After the trifurcation of JNTU Hyderabad into three universities, the college has become the constituent college of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada in 2008. On November 24, 2021 Government of Andhra Pradesh introduced a bill in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly to upgrade the college into an autonomous university.
