The Puffing Billy Running Festival is an annual event held between Belgrave and Emerald Lake. The event includes a 1.2 kilometres (0.75 mi) kids dash, 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) fun run, 13.5 kilometres (8.4 mi) classic, and a 21.1 kilometres (13.1 mi) half marathon, which has been held in the third quarter of the year since 2023.
Beyond Belgrave, the narrow-gauge line has been restored as the Puffing Billy Railway, which runs tourist services to the original terminus of Gembrook. The line operates for approximately 19 hours a day (from approximately 5:00 am to around 12:00 am) with 24 hour service available on Friday and Saturday nights.
