Carpinus turczaninovii, the Turczaninow hornbeam or Korean hornbeam, is a species of flowering plant in the family Betulaceae, native to central China, the Korean Peninsula, and central and southern Japan. [1] [2] It is a large shrub or small tree typically 15 to 20 ft (5 to 6 m) tall and about 75% as wide, and is hardy to USDA zone 5b. [3]

The thornless tree grows to 4–5 metres (13–16 ft) tall and around 2–2.5 metres (6 ft 7 in – 8 ft 2 in) wide. The dense, thin and low branches give the tree a shrubby appearance. Its leaves are ovate with pointy tips, around 6.5 centimetres (2.6 in) long and around 2.5 centimetres (0.98 in) wide.

Celtis koraiensis, commonly known as the Korean hackberry is a deciduous tree in the genus Celtis. The species is endemic to the Korean Peninsula and the north of China. It is typically found in altitudes of 100 to 1,500 metres (330 to 4,920 ft). The tree flowers from April to May, and the fruit ripens from September to October.
