Garden Corner, 13 Chelsea Embankment, London Garden Corner, 13 Chelsea Embankment, London. The embankment was completed to a design by Joseph Bazalgette and was part of the Metropolitan Board of Works' grand scheme to provide London with a modern sewage system. It was opened on 9 May 1874 by Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh. [1]

Garden Corner is a Grade II listed house at 13 Chelsea Embankment, Chelsea, London. It was built in 1879 in deep red brick in the Dutch Renaissance style on the site of the Old Swan pub, and the architect was Edward l'Anson Jr. [ 1 ] [ 2 ]
A statue of Thomas Carlyle by Joseph Edgar Boehm stands in Chelsea Embankment Gardens in London. Erected in 1881 and unveiled in 1882, it stands close to 24 Cheyne Row where Carlyle lived for the last 47 years of his life. The statue became a Grade II listed building on 15 April 1969. [1]
