[7] It is loosely based on the novel Perfect Blue: Complete Metamorphosis (パーフェクトブルー:完全変態, Pāfekuto Burū: Kanzen Hentai) by Yoshikazu Takeuchi, with a screenplay by Sadayuki Murai.
