Mishler was hired by Krause Publications in 1963 as an associate editor for Numismatic News [3] before being promoted to full editor from 1964 to 1966. He became the publisher for all numismatic publications from 1966 to 1975, publisher for all publications from 1975 to 1988, and was named executive vice president from 1975 to 1988, senior vice president from 1988 to 1990.
In 2010, the American Numismatic Association named one of their Young Numismatist Literary Awards after Bowers, where articles submitted by children ages 13-17 can win awards and numismatic books. [9] Since 2021, Bowers has been named one of Coin World's Top 10 Most Influential People in Numismatics four consecutive years. [10]
Coins magazine was founded by Chester L. Krause in 1955 [2] and was called Coin Press. [3] Originally published in Iola, Wisconsin, by Krause Publications from 1955-2002, it was absorbed into F+W Media, which published the magazine from 2002-2019.

Krause was a life member of the American Numismatic Association, and was awarded several awards from the ANA, including the Medal of Merit, Glenn Smedley Memorial Award in 1991, Exemplary Service Award, Numismatist of the Year in 1999, Lifetime Achievement Award, the Burnett Anderson Memorial Award in 2009 and the Farran Zerbe Memorial Award, the organization's highest honor, in 1977.
