Make 2 diamond pickaxes and mine in a tunnel at Y-58. If you run into caves or lava choose another direction and keep going. Mine until the pickaxes break. This will get you at least 30 diamond. Now get fortune on a new pick and eventually you’ll have stacks of diamond. Basically, use your first few diamonds to get more diamonds. 1. true.

One inconvenience is the lava lakes getting in your way. People recommend y-level -54 because you will be at the surface of lava lakes and can cross them easier. Diamonds are found very deep, just above the bedrock. Try digging to the bedrock, and then search starting about five or six blocks above that. Be systematic; dig a long tunnel, then dig side tunnels to expose the stone. And watch out for lava; that far down you can dig into a lava pool above you and bring it down on your head.
