PS-87. ADMIN MOD. What’s the best driving and most reliable SUV of the past 5 years. Hey all! I wanted to see what people had good experience with and what I should stay away from for used SUV’s. I looked online but it’s a crap shoot so I figured I’d ask some real people. Im looking to buy an SUV and hopefully stay under $25k and 40k miles.
For sure! The crv is basically a car with more space, that’s raised higher off the ground. Perfect family vehicle for a 3-4 person family just looking to get more space than a sedan, should get you all the benefits of having an suv that it sounds like you need, while still maintaining a car-like quality to it (doesn’t feel like you’re driving around a massive thing, gets decent mileage ...
Better get a Acura. Used with low mileage on it.Last long time with only the tune up at 100k to worry about. the nissan juke is the coolest looking suv but it's not that big and not that practical and not that good looking.
You can easily find a used high trim CX-5 that would include everything that I’ve listed with low miles somewhere in the $20,000 to $25,000 range. You’re better off getting a 2019-2020 RAV4 hybrid. Gets 40MPG and comes with a 10 year/150k warranty on the battery and Toyota makes some of the best hybrids out there.
Especially if it’s only on occasion. Recently I almost paid $5k for a 00's Highlander with 125k miles but I just couldn't justify having a back-up back-up vehicle. Any Toyota or Lexus SUV will be the most reliable, especially if it has a v8 built at the Japanese headquarters. Lexus Gx460, Toyota Land Cruiser etc.
$25k used with $5k down @ 4% for 5 yrs is going to get you about $360-$400 monthly. $40-$100 difference monthly. Personally, I rather put my hard earned $5k in the new vehicle in current market. Pros: warranty, looks 'cooler' than older ones, has higher value a few years down the road, and you avoid some of the used car maintenance issues.
Any advice, experiences, or suggestions would be great. Thanks, everyone! Check out the mazda cx5. Subaru Forester/Outback. You will have to go back a few years to find a good low mileage SUV under 15k. If you like the Escape I would stick with that!
Top Choice: 2018-2021 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro (hard to find under $40k but willing to wait a bit if it’s the best choice) Second Choice: 2020-2022 Toyota RAV4 Adventure or TRD Off-Road (a little too small for my preference but it’s a solid choice) Third Choice: 2020-2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (I know, I know…but I’ve always wanted one ...
Reply. thisisinput. • 2 yr. ago. Not sure what your budget is, but for reliable V6 SUVs you have. -Toyota 4Runner. -Pre 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. -Kia Telluride / Hyundai Palisade. -Honda Passport. I feel like midsize V6 SUVs from Ford/Chevy/Dodge have had shoddy reliability, but maybe I'm wrong.
Toyota and Honda. Lexus Gx470 possibly a gx460 if you can find one in your budget. Everybody will say Toyota/Lexus so I’ll say Nissan Xterra. Preferably post 2010. Maybe an early 00's Lexus LX. Used lexus Rx350. I swear I replied to the same post a couple of hours ago.
