We have a member on here who has a colt that was resulted from an accidental breeding between a 10 hand pony/mini stallion and a 17 hand perch mare. It can and will happen.

I actually think that most mules are bred either withthe ditches or AI, since most mares that are used fortheir breeding are quite large, and some Jacks just can't get up there, lol. I wouldn't say that they shouldn't be bred though, because they have their uses. :p.

  4. What if my new mare is in foal to her son? | The Horse Forum

A mother to son breeding is not a gaurantee of trouble. In fact, although its not done regularly now that the populations of most breeds have increased sufficiently, there have been many successful lines founded on closebreeding. In the mother/son breeding, the genes of the dam are potentially doubled, so anything good in the mare might be ...

Breeding is always a crap shoot, regardless of papers. The value of breeding registered horses is: known breeds being used, tracing what their ancestors were bred for/accomplished, known ages of horses being bred and knowing what genetic diseases you might have to test for before deciding which horses you combine the genetics of.

If you can find a good one they tend to be great, but otherwise they tend to be something they hide in the back 40.

I was out catching our mares for worming, and from the neighbor's field I hear a horse striking the four board plank fence, some squealing, and the owners screaming like mad. I look over, and our neighbor's "Stal-yun", sure enough, was breeding ...

Breeding HYPP Horses. I was thinking about how a lot of breeders WANT their horses to be positive for HYPP so that they have more muscle mass and will look better in halter. I think they are slowly moving away from it in the Quarter Horse classes because if they are H/H they are not allowed to be registered with the AQHA, but other breeds are ...

  10. Breeding Smaller Mare to a Larger Stallion | The Horse Forum

    www.horseforum.com/threads/breeding-smaller-mare-to-a...

Think of this Friesian is a Giant horse over a small POA horse. It is better to find a stallion with a similar body frame. In my opinion I think that is kind of cruel to breed a Giant Friesian to a small POA mare. It is fine to breed a 14 hands QH Mare to a 15 hands QH Stallion. By the way what breed is your 15 hands mare and the 18 hands stallion?

Line breeding is breeding horses of a particular family. Crosses usually are only ever as close as grandparent to grandchild, or cousin to cousin.
