This building, at 3380 Orchard Lake Road, was built to be the district's high school in 1955. [7] The architect was George D. Mason & Co. [8] It became a junior high school in 1967, then closed in spring 1971. In fall 1972 it reopened as Abbott Middle School. It then housed Roosevelt Elementary when the middle schools were combined. Corner Middle School is located at the intersection of Bagley (Mayfield) Road and Corner School Road. Corner High School, previously located at the same site as the middle school, moved in 2010 to a new facility three miles (5 km) to the west on Warrior-Jasper Road. The school competes in Class 4A of the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
The Central Middle School building was opened in 1961 as the senior high school, serving grades 10-12, and converted to Central Middle School in 1997. It is located on the southeast corner of Gleason Lake at the intersection of Gleason Lake Road and Vicksburg Lane.
The first school was a one-room structure in which seven grades were taught by one teacher. In 1908, the building was destroyed by a tornado. In 1910, the school was moved to what is now the parking area at Corner Middle School. In 1917, library service was established. Corner School had its first graduation in 1921 with seven members graduating.
