I've used SecureSpend Visa cards many many times with no issues, beyond the 60 minute wait for them to become active. However the latest card that I purchased is not working with online merchants I've used them with in the past. Also I can't link the card with my PayPal account, something I've done many time in the past.

Not sure if you've already found out the balance but, for me it won't work on any computer browser, I had to go onto my phone and put in the details on the same vanilla site listed on card and it worked. I believe the limit on prepaid card usage is to comply with anti money laundering laws. People will use drug/stolen money to buy prepaid cards in order to make online purchases. There are laws in place in USA that prevent any individual person from buying more than $10,000 of cards a day. There are likely similar laws on the spending side too.
Take your receipt of the purchase and go back to metro. I bought a securespend card from metro yesterday as well and the card shows up as invalid on the website. My transactions still go through though.
