The National Parliament of Papua New Guinea is the unicameral national legislature in Papua New Guinea. It was created in 1964 as the House of Assembly of Papua and New Guinea but gained its current name after the nation was granted independence in 1975.
The Papua New Guinea Party is a political party in Papua New Guinea. It was founded in 2007 by former Prime Minister and Leader of the People's Democratic Movement, Mekere Morauta, along with MP Wake Goi. The party won 8 out of 109 seats in the 2007 General Election. [2] With this result, the party became the largest opposition party. [3]
The Social Democratic Party is a political party in Papua New Guinea. It was founded in June 2010 by Port Moresby Governor Powes Parkop. [2] It won three seats at the 2012 election: Parkop (National Capital District Provincial), Justin Tkatchenko (Moresby South Open) and Joseph Yopyyopy (Wosera-Gawi).

The Papua New Guinea National Party is a political party in Papua New Guinea. It was formed in September 1969 by Thomas Kavali, Sabumei Kofikai and Siwi Kurondo when the three MPs broke away from the Compass Party. It was formally launched on 14 November 1969. (Kofikai later rejoined the Compass Party).
The party was founded in 1993. It merged with the Christian Country Party and a number of smaller parties in April 1998 to form the PNG First Party, but split in June 1999 into a revived People's National Congress and a revived National Party. [4] At the National General elections of 2002, the party won 2 of 109 seats.
