Says that Buchanan Grimes Elementary School was named after Buchanan Grimes, a janitor who ascended his way to principal. Grimes served Sunnyside Gardens in southern Houston for 56 years. Sunnyside Gardens aged and many parents began to send their children to other neighborhoods. Around 1991 (2 decades prior to 2011) 580 kids went to Grimes.
