This is a list of nature reserves in the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, South Africa (the municipality governing Durban and its surrounding suburbs). They are managed by several organizations, including the eThekwini Municipality, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, Msinsi Holdings, the National Ports Authority, and the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA).
During the 1980s it was envisaged by the Lebowa government as a 25,000 ha reserve called The Downs Nature Reserve, which would cater recreational activities, camping and hiking. [2] Since 2001 it is managed by the Limpopo Tourism and Parks Board .

Flora and Fauna. As implied by the region's name, the Bushveld's grassy plains are dotted by dense clusters of trees and tall shrubs. The grasses found here are generally tall and turn brown or pale in winter (May to August), which is the dry season throughout most of Southern Africa.
