A pen is a handheld device used to apply ink to a surface, usually paper, for writing or drawing. [1] Additional types of specialized pens are used in specific types of applications and environments such as in artwork, electronics, digital scanning and spaceflight, and computing.
Some of its brands of fountain pens include Hero, Wing Sung, Lucky, Huafu, Xinming, Guanleming, Xinhua, and Gentleman. The design of some of its Hero pens, such as the Hero 616 or Hero 100, resemble that of the Parker 51, a popular American-made pen. Hero fountain pens were very popular in India from the 1970s to 1990s.
Lamy (/ˈlɑːmi, ˈlæmi/) is a German pen manufacturing company founded in 1930 by Josef Lamy, a former sales representative for Parker Pen. The company acquired the Orthos pen manufacturer to begin production. Lamy offers a variety of writing products, including fountain pens.
The company was established in the back room of Mr. Sheaffer's jewelry store with seven employees, and was incorporated a year later, in 1913. By the 1930s, Sheaffer fountain pens were being advertised as the pen that "fills instantly from any ink-well, with one touch of a finger. Cleans automatically when filling."
In 2014 Bic released a new writing instrument based on the Cristal, a modified pen with a rubber tip opposite the ballpoint. This model, called the "Cristal Stylus", is for use on touchscreens. [20] Bic funded a website to promote the stylus that crowdsourced a new typeface, named the Universal Typeface Experiment. [2]
In 1942 the company was primarily focused for the Tokyo Weapons Company involved in the manufacture of fighter planes. The pen business Nakaya Seisakusho was renamed Platinum Fountain Pen Company Ltd. This changed in 1952 to Platinum Industry Company after a challenge from a British company of the same name, [3] but reverted in 1962.
