James Stuart Kerr (born 9 October 1975) is a New Zealand former professional rugby union player. Born in Sydney, Kerr underwent his early schooling at Newington College , before moving to New Zealand and attending Gisborne Boys' High School , from where he gained New Zealand Schools representative selection.
James Kerr had been the foreman for the Deane, Adams and Deane gun factory. Robert Adams, one of the partners and inventor of the Adams revolver, was Kerr's cousin.Kerr developed an improvement to the Adams revolver, British Patent No. 1722 of July 28, 1855, and when Adams left the Deane brothers to found the London Armoury Company on February 9, 1856, Kerr went with him.
Kerr was born near Danville, Kentucky, [1] the son of a Baptist minister. Reared in Missouri, Kerr fought in the War of 1812 and was later sheriff of St. Charles County, Missouri. In 1818, he married Angeline Caldwell, the daughter of James Caldwell, Missouri's first House Speaker.
