The Ray Norbut State Fish and Wildlife Area is a 1,140-acre (460 ha) state park located near Griggsville in Pike County, Illinois. It borders on the Illinois River and is primarily made of steeply sloped bluffland that is part of the river's valley. Heavily wooded, this region is managed for whitetail deer hunting.
There is evidence that the Fox River valley near Silver Springs was populated by indigenous people near the end of the last ice age, 10–14,000 years ago. [1] The original 1,250 acres (510 ha) tract of land that became Silver Springs State Fish and Wildlife Area was purchased by the state of Illinois in 1969, and has been open since January of that year.
A disjunct land parcel, the Ramsey Railroad Prairie, is managed by IDNR from the nearby state recreation area.Currently, the 11.26 acres (4.56 ha) railroad prairie is a strip of land of 6,500 feet (2,000 m) in length and 75 feet (23 m) in width, running north-and-south adjacent to Township Road 750E.

Deer Park is a village in Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois. Per the 2020 census , the population was 3,681. [ 2 ] The village is one of the few left in the Chicago area that enjoy a green belt which is bordered by two large natural areas providing outdoor recreation and open space.
This west floodplain lake receives overflow waters from the Illinois River. [1] [2] The Anderson lake has a surface area of 1,134 acres (459 ha) with an average depth of 4 ft (1.2 m) and a maximum depth of 6 ft (1.8 m) [1] with 9.1 mi (14.6 km) shore is surrounded by bottomland forest.
