ACBSP was founded in 1989 to accredit business schools with an emphasis on teaching and learning. [1] At the time, only 260 out of 2,400 schools of business had specialized professional accreditation, all from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
In 2013, the Area of Accounting became an independent professional school within Rawls Business. The School of Accounting is one of only about 40 stand–alone accounting schools in the United States, and the first accounting school in Texas to be separately accredited by the AACSB. [7]
