Welcome to the Town of Berlin! Berlin, Connecticut, the home of "The Yankee Peddler", is located at the geographic center of the state. The area was originally known as PAGONCHAWNISCHAGE (the great white oak place), by the Mattabasset Indians.

Town Council. The Town Manager and the Town Council are responsible for the administration of all Town matters, with the exception of the education system, Kensington and Worthington Fire Districts, the Mattabassett District (which provides water and sewer services to industrial and residential customers) and the Police Department. The Revenue Collector's office is responsible for the billing and collection of property taxes that comprise approximately 87% of the town's operating revenue. The office operates under the authority of the Connecticut General Statutes.
The Assessor's Office is responsible for the discovery, listing and equitable valuation of all real and personal property within the Town of Berlin in accordance with Connecticut State Statutes at 70% of market value for the annual production of the Grand List.
Tax Bill Information. Real Estate taxes are due on a semi-annual basis. 1st installment: due July 1, last day to pay without penalty is August 1st. 2nd installment: due January 1st, last day to pay without penalty is February 1st.
