Crivitz is a town in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It is situated 18 km east of Schwerin. The founder of the town Crivitz, Wisconsin named it after his hometown Crivitz. It has a friendship link with Seaford, East Sussex. [2] The lake Barniner See is located nearby.

The Milwaukee Road entered Marinette in 1883. It built a spur from the mainline at Crivitz, Wisconsin to Marinette and Menominee, Michigan. As the number of passengers declined on the Milwaukee Road after World War II, it ceased passenger trains to Marinette and Menominee. The depot was served by buses from Crivitz. The town of Stephenson was organized in 1897 with the name of Crivitz and changed to its current name in 1905. The town is named for Isaac Stephenson, a Republican member of Congress who represented Wisconsin's 9th Congressional District from 1883-1889 and a US Senator from Wisconsin from 1907-1915. [3]
