Green Valley is a master planned community located in Henderson, Nevada, and Southern Nevada's first master-planned community built before Summerlin. [1] The Green Valley Master Community development was founded in 1978 by American Nevada Corporation in an area of 8,400 acres (34 km 2) in the southeast part of the Las Vegas Valley.
The project was built in the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood located within the city of Henderson, Nevada, which is part of the Las Vegas Valley. The District is split across two parcels, which are divided by South Green Valley Parkway and were developed as separate phases. It is located east of the Green Valley Ranch resort.
Green Valley Ranch opened on December 18, 2001, with 201 rooms and a 50,000 sq ft (4,600 m 2) casino. While a locals casino , the resort was designed with an upscale element. Built at a cost of $300 million, it was Station's most expensive resort up to that point, and the most expensive locals casino in Las Vegas history.
Henderson is a city in Clark County, Nevada, United States, about 16 miles (26 km) southeast of downtown Las Vegas. It is the 2nd most populous city in Nevada, after Las Vegas, with 317,610 residents. [4] The city is part of the Las Vegas Valley.
The school was named after the master-planned community of Green Valley which is located in northern Henderson. The school opened in the fall of 1991 with Carroll Johnston as the first principal and the first class graduating in 1993. Green Valley High School was the first high school since 1976 to open in Clark County School District. [4]
The development project would include a country club community and a Sun City senior community. Anthem would eventually consist of 11,000 to 13,000 homes. Approximately 72 acres of the first phase were set aside for parks and recreation. [2] [3] Henderson ensured that its water supply would meet the future needs of the new community.
