Cumborah is a town in north-western New South Wales, Australia.The town is in the Walgett Shire local government area, near the opal fields of Lightning Ridge.Cumborah is about 36 kilometres (22 mi) off the Castlereagh Highway and is served by the commercial centres of Lightning Ridge and Walgett, 48 kilometres (30 mi) to the south-east.
The town is serviced by three radio stations. Opal FM on 89.7 MHz, Outback Radio 2WEB on 90.5 MHz and 2CUZ FM on 96.1 MHz. The Western Herald is published on a weekly basis (every Thursday) year-round, except during a short break at Christmas and covers local Lightning Ridge Stories.
The Shire is divided between the agricultural areas (producing wool, cattle, wheat and cotton), which are near the Barwon and Namoi rivers or south-east of the Barwon River, and the outback country north-west of the Barwon River, including the black opal mining and fossicking town of Lightning Ridge.

Opal was discovered there in 1930, [11] and the town developed out of the scattered miners' camps which established in the area. An Andamooka Opal Fields Post Office was not opened until 13 January 1947, and was renamed Andamooka in 1990. [12] The road into Andamooka was sealed in the 1990s, some remaining roads in the town are still unsealed.
