The Courthouse Plaza Historic District is a historic district in Prescott, Arizona that was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1978. [1]It includes 26 contributing buildings including the Yavapai County Courthouse (already separately listed on the NRHP) and the Masonic Temple, in a 17-acre (6.9 ha) area.
In 1917 Prescott had become the center for many industries in the state, including mining, ranching, farming, tourism, as well as being known as a health resort for people with respiratory conditions. The city had several hotels, including the Hotel Prescott, Hotel St. Michael (the largest hotel at that time), Congress Hotel, and the Head Hotel.
Former territorial capital of Arizona. Now a center for ranching, mining, health, especially asthma relief. Located here on site of old Ft. Whipple is Whipple Veterans Hospital.
