Plymouth is a city in Hennepin County in the U.S. state of Minnesota. A suburb in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area, the city is about 10 miles (16 km) west of downtown Minneapolis . The population was 81,026 at the 2020 census , making it Minnesota's 7th-largest city.
Built in 1749, the two-story wood-frame building is believed to be the oldest wooden courthouse in the United States; it stands on the site of the first courthouse built by Plymouth Colony settlers, and may incorporate elements of a 1670 building. The site was originally the site of Edward Winslow's first house in Plymouth. [2]

The city is located in the Town of Plymouth, but is politically independent. Plymouth was known as "Hub City" for its former role as a center of wooden wheelwrighting. [6] It is now known as "The Cheese Capitol of the World" as it produces 40% of all the cheese consumed in the United States. Mayor Don Pohlman was last re-elected in April 2018.
The bid for city status was eventually granted in 1928 and constituted as the City of Plymouth. Until World War II, the port at Millbay Docks was used for Transatlantic liner shipping, as it had been since the 1870s. Many of the surviving crew of the RMS Titanic disaster disembarked at Millbay docks on their return to England in 1912. [34]

Plymouth Township is a charter township in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. A western suburb of Detroit, Plymouth Township is located roughly 27 miles (43.5 km) northwest of downtown Detroit, and 16 miles (25.7 km) northeast of Ann Arbor.
