The Universalist Church of Joliet (UUCJ) is a Unitarian Universalist church, and is home to one of the oldest congregations in Joliet, Illinois. The congregation originally incorporated as the First Universalist Society of Juliet in 1844; however, Universalists had been meeting in Juliet, as Joliet was then called, as early as 1836.

McNamara selected St. Raymond's church as the cathedral. By 1950, the 540-seat church proved inadequate and he began planning a new facility. He consecrated the new Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus on May 26, 1955. [7] In 1965, Pope Paul VI appointed Romeo Blanchette of the Archdiocese of Chicago as an auxiliary bishop in Joliet.

He first served as associate pastor at St. Walter's Parish in Roselle from 2002 to 2005. He then served as associate pastor at St. Mary Immaculate Church in Plainfield, from 2005 to 2008. Then he served as pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes in Gibson City, St George in Melvin, and Immaculate Conception in Roberts, from 2008-2011.
