Indian Harbour Beach–Merritt Island CR 3 (former SR 3 [ 3 ] ) is a north–south highway. It begins at an intersection with SR 513 in Indian Harbour Beach and ends at an intersection with SR 520 in Merritt Island, Florida .
Merritt Island is a peninsula, commonly referred to as an island, [4] in Brevard County, Florida, United States, located on the eastern Florida coast, along the Atlantic Ocean. It is also the name of an unincorporated town in the central and southern parts of the island and a census-designated place (CDP).
The Indian River extends southward from the Ponce de Leon Inlet in New Smyrna Beach, across the Haulover Canal, and along the western shore of Merritt Island. The Banana River flows into the Indian River on the island's south side, at which point the Indian River continues southward to St. Lucie Inlet. [3]
SR 206 was legislated in 1931 to run from pre-1945 SR 4 (US 1) in Cocoa east across the Indian River to Merritt Island. There it would split, with one leg running south to Georgiana and the other north to Courtenay. (In 1937, both of these branches from Merritt Island became part of pre-1945 SR 219, later part of SR 3.)

The western 2.2-mile-long (3.5 km) segment is a part of Jensen Beach Boulevard between U.S. Route 1 (US 1) and County Road 723 (CR 723) and CR 707A. The eastern 1.9-mile-long (3.1 km) segment consists of Causeway Boulevard and the Jensen Beach Causeway over the Indian River Lagoon and runs between CR 707 and SR A1A.
