Marine City is a city in St. Clair County in the U.S. state of Michigan. Located on the west bank of the St. Clair River, it is one of the cities in the River District north of Detroit and south of Lake Huron. In the late 19th century, it was a major center of wooden shipbuilding and lumber processing. The population was 4,079 at the 2020 census.
Captain Samuel Ward was known throughout Michigan as "Uncle Sam the Steamboat King." In 1819, Ward settled in Marine City and constructed a shipyard and a brickyard. He built this house about 1830, which at the time was described as being one of two brick houses between Detroit and the North Pole.
Marine chronometer Thomas S. Negus (May 1, 1828 – March 17, 1894) was a 19th-century American businessman. He was well known for the manufacture and sale of maritime chronometers and nautical instruments in New York City under the name T.S. & J.D. Negus Company.

The Marine City City Hall is a former government building located at 300 Broadway Street in Marine City, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. [ 1 ] City government offices moved out of the building in 2005.
