The West Pearl Street Historic District is a primarily residential historic district, located at 155-225 and 160-208 W. Pearl Street in Coldwater, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
Coldwater as a whole, and the East Chicago Street Historic District, grew rapidly though the remainder of the 19th century. The area east of Morse Street was completely unplatted in 1872, but had been entirely platted by 1902. [4] One of the most significant buildings in the district is the Coldwater Public Library at 12 E. Chicago.

Alvin T. Lanphere was born in 1834, and manufactured lightning rods in Coldwater. In about 1870, he began work constructing this house. By 1875, the house was reportedly not completely finished, and Lanphere exchanged houses with Jacob Franklin Pratt.
An early trading post was established in what is now Coldwater in 1822. The Chicago Road (now Chicago Street) was constructed through the area in the late 1820s. The village itself was first platted in 1831, and commercial improvements were made almost immediately, with the area that is now this historic district becoming the commercial center of the village.
