Indian Point Energy Center (I.P.E.C.) is a now defunct three-unit nuclear power station located in Buchanan, just south of Peekskill, in Westchester County, New York. It sits on the east bank of the Hudson River, about 36 miles (58 km) north of Midtown Manhattan. The facility permanently ceased power operations on April 30, 2021.
The project was planned to create a reservoir for water quality control, irrigation and power production, employing a 470-foot (140 m) high embankment dam that would require about 7,000,000 cubic yards (5,400,000 m 3) of rock fill. A site for the nuclear quarry was proposed about 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of the dam site.
